NEGIN ASHOURI; AWARD WINNING CANADIAN ENTREPRENEUR BRINGING NEW AI APPLICANTS TO MEDICINE

Welcome to Episode 4 of the Immpreneur Podcast .

In this episode, Negin and I share a wonderful journey of successfully setting up a Canadian based medical technology company that restores gender equality in medical innovation.

When Negin migrated to Canada in 2018 as an international student, she found herself trapped in an unknown situation where she had to work two jobs to make ends meet. Negin was working on an amazing project in the McGill program, but in the meantime, she struggled with a myriad of unfamiliar medical terms, financial problems, and “outsider” issues.

As Negin shares the story, it all started with Surgical Innovation, a Canadian Surgical and medical instrument manufacturing company, that engages technical and medical individuals to touch a perceived need in the surgical environment. The team soon found that women's health was considerably neglected and there was not any developed technology that fits in. The mission was to customize medicine for women who were suffering from Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP), a health condition that one in every ten women around the world suffer from.

Negin believes it was a great opportunity to be part of the McGill program, wherein mentors saw the potential and need to set up a company. Negin was presented the Mitacs Change Agent Entrepreneur Award at a virtual awards ceremony on June 10, 2021.

Negin admits that success ends up giving up for personal life, study time, friends, and a lot more at some point once you have a passion and vision to live. Today, she is known as a successful entrepreneur, innovator, and MA graduate, who encourages women to consider entrepreneurship as a path to take.

She believes immigrant women don’t have enough courage and confidence to take risks and start their own businesses. Her goal is to empower women who have sunk into oblivion their power, passion, and desires to make the world a better place for themselves and others
